About Us

Commonwealth transparent Baclground.png

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, BRSHC strives to provide the highest level of care for all patients with the lowest possible fees. We offer our fees on a sliding-scale schedule based on federal poverty guidelines as well as payment plans and scholarships for qualifying patients. We are one of the only area clinics that accept Tennessee and Virginia Medicare/Medicaid and over half of our patient based is comprised of these patients.

Our ability to continue serving the essential communication needs in our community depends on the support of the community through Bingo proceeds, charitable foundations and individual contributions.

The Bristol Regional Speech and Hearing Center was established at Bristol Memorial Hospital in September 1955 under the auspices of The Border Guild, a young women’s service club. The Border Guild has since changed its name to Junior League of Bristol. The Speech and Hearing Center was incorporated as a private, non-profit organization. It is governed by its own Board of Directors, drawn from the professions, industry, business, and interested citizens.

The Center relocated to a facility on Osborne Street in Bristol Virginia in September 2007 due to continued growth and the need for extra space.  And in November 2019, BRSHC moved its Bristol practice to centrally located office on Commonwealth Avenue in the heart of downtown.

Our BRISTOL and LEBANON offices
are now open with
COVID-19 prevention measures:
  • All are required to wear masks inside the office.
(Some exceptions apply to patients during speech language therapy.)
  • Temperature checks and screening questions will occur at Reception.
  • Our waiting room is closed and we ask that patients/companions wait in their personal vehicle after checking in.
  • Only 1 patient companion will be permitted during treatment.
  • All parties must sanitize their hands prior to session.
